Leather. Style. Community.

A deeper dive into Joyce's story, queer style and community.

 Roots & Community.

Born and raised in NYC by Filipino immigrant parents, I have always loved being immersed in a mix of cultures and influences. 10 years ago when I decided it was time to leave NYC behind, Los Angeles seemed like a natural move.

I got a degree in Merchandise Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology and spent a few years working in the fashion industry working for brands like DKNY and Kenneth Cole. As much as I enjoyed the fashion world, my true passion was calling me. I left the fashion world and enrolled in Aveda Hair Institute to learn hairstyling from the best. Spending years cutting in top NYC salons, I honed my skills and am always continuing my education through industry workshops and adopting new techniques.

Hair has always been personal for me. Growing up, rigid beauty norms left me feeling unseen, which is why I’m passionate about creating a welcoming space for queer hair expression.

Outside of work, I recharge at the beach, hike, read, and enjoy opera and the performing arts. I have 3 cats, who I spoil every day. I am a music lover and my Gen X heart beats for the ‘80s, so I will never say no to going out dancing. I love traveling and am always interested in old-town architecture in the places I explore.

Queer leather culture is also a big part of my life, and as you can see I have a passion for fashion and my kink community. I love playing with clothing, hair and gender expression. Although my queer roots are in NYC, I'm loving the LA lifestyle where my style can shift from a beachy day to bold Leather Daddy by night. Nothing beats the scent of leather!

Thank you to the LA Leather Community, Esther Godoy and the team at Butch is Not a Dirty Word for the recent feature and photoshoot, Anita and Sapphic LA for the queer community Award, and to all my clients and the LGBTQ+ community for offering constant inspiration!
